I've spent HOURS reconnecting these machines when every other device in my house NEVER has connection issues. Solution: hire people that know how to write software & firmware.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice Laser Double-sided Printer But With Caveats A good basic laser printer if you're printing normal letter size pages. The 2-sided printing capability is excellent. It's quick, quiet and doesn't glitch when printing both sides. I have a few issues with this printer. The first issue is that the toner isn't sufficiently fused to an envelope when printed, and I don't see any way of adjusting the setting. (I understand the innards of this type of machine, having operated and serviced a Xerox 1860 continuous feed commercial photocopy machine in an earlier life.) I ended up printing the addresses on plain paper, cutting them out and taping them to their respective envelopes. The second issue is with the whole process of opening the front and rear of the printer when feeding envelopes or single sheets of paper into the machine. It's really cumbersome to do, especially when the printer is set up so it's placed with the back close to a wall. The third issue is similar to the second when printing legal size paper. The resized tray extends out from the rear of the machine, hitting the wall, cables or whatever and exposing the paper stack to any dust that can freely settle on the exposed loaded paper. My final criticism of the HL-L2320D is that there's no paper or even PDF user manual. It wouldn't need to be fancy and have lots of white space, it could be all the instructions in the Online User's Guide in a condensed document. I like the output quality and so far trouble free operation (except as noted with printing envelopes) and will happily use it in my little office. I have an inkjet scanner/color printer for other jobs and workarounds. It's the least expensive big-brand laser printer on the market and I can definitely recommend it for home office use.

I got a brother again because of my satisfaction with the last one. The 2 sided printing wors great but you have to remember to enable it. Very basic connection, just usb a to b cable needed but not included. Really easy to set up, just power up, plug it in and windows does the rest

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I wish I could print on 3x5 cardstock I had a previous Brother laser printer (I forget the model, but very similar) that had given me wonderful service for over 10 years. Unfortunately, it sat on a dresser that took a lot of sun, and after all those years, the roller had dried to the point it often failed to grab the paper, leading to paper jams. So, rather than spend a bunch on getting that replaced, it was less expensive to replace the entire printer, which is what I did. However, one difference (and hence the 4 star verses 5 star rating) is paper handling. I use 3x5 cards a lot to organize things, recipe cards, etc. I used to print them out on the old printer, but the HL-L2320D will not accept that size in either the paper trays (the guides will not go down to 5") nor in the manual feed slot (where there appear to be no guides). I would have even purchased an optional/after market tray for that sole use, but I cannot locate any.

It squeals and squeaks with every page being printed and you can hear something inside struggling to turn/crank out the pages. I'll be returning this piece of junk

It has been a champ. The test page says that I have printed 26,600 pages so far. Its time for a new one and I will be ordering the exact same model

The only problem I've encountered is that the printed documents usually overflow the little flip-up plastic "stopper" at the front, making a mess on the floor if printing a large document. Making this part just a little bit longer (say, 2-3 cm) would solve the problem, I bet!

The brother website is very helpful for driver updates. The only thing I needed was a cable to hook it up to my computer (which I got from the store, there is a wireless version but I went old school). I enjoy the two sided printing. It is very fast and is even light weight if I ever need to move it. I would highly recommend this printer for anyone who has basic printer needs.

This is just absurd. I was looking for a reliable basic printer without wi-fi and all the complications that new technology imposes on our lives. I just needed a basic reliable printer copier as printers were a few years ago. So, anyway, I am happy with this Brother product's price and service. I hope that I don't have to pay for expensive toner having no other option. I did use great basic Xerox printers-copiers in the '60s and 70's. Those were de great days. So, I do recommend this printer to anyone that requires only a printer without a copier feature. I will go to the UPS, or the FedEx stores to make my copies, which will become quite inconvenient and costly on a yearly basis. I was not able to find the product that I needed anywhere. Everything out there has too many features that I do not care for, nor want to pay for.

Hoping this is a solution to that. Easy to set up, yes. I did have the necessary usb cable. Perhaps be helpful to others if the need for said cable is made clearer in the product description.

This is not what most manufacturers want to hear. I have a fussy inkjet that I stress for scanning and color. Fortunately, most of my work is documents. I hit print and this little Brother prints. After two weeks, same thing- toner light would not go out-wouldn't print. Much trouble returning it to Staples-couldn't; had to eat cost. Bought a new one at Best Buy; working great so far; copies are clean and legible. Would recommend purchase. Check return policy at store purchased. If I had made my original purchase at Best Buy instead of Staples, I would not have had to eat thr cost.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Superb and quiet printer This HL-L2320D replaces an HL-2170 that was 13 years old. I upgraded because the 2170 was due for a new toner cartridge and a new drum, and the total for both of those was very near the cost of a new unit. My 2170 was near-bulletproof for as long as I had it. In over 10,000 pages, I experienced less than 35 paper jams. I owned that unit for longer than any other printer I've ever had, so upgrading to the L2320D was a no-brainer. It's identical in size to the 2170, and took less than 15 minutes to swap out, and most of that time was spent moving my desk away from the wall (and returning it to its place) to get to all of the unseen wires and such behind every computer system. I've had the L2320 a couple of months, and expect it to have the same reliability. It has only about 50% of the noise level of the old unit, which is another nice bonus.

It was difficult to link it to my computer, and requires me to jump through several hoops before I can print each item which is needlessly annoying. You can't just select PRINT and get it done. Also, I can't scan anything to print copies. It all has to go through the labored process it requires of my computer.

Replaced it with this and like it very much so far. The fan does not stay running long to cool it after a print like my older model. Fast printing as well.

After researching various models of laser printers I chose the Brother-HL-L2320D. This printer is very affordable, reliable, and compact. I've been using this printer for over 18 months and I've never had any operating/mechanical malfunctions, paper feeding issues or any other problem whatsoever. I highly recommend the Brother-HL-L2320D laser printer.

The toner cartridge is a powder so there is no drying out at all, and the page is dry as soon as it comes out of the printer!

I could have used this about six months ago when I began acting as the executor of my mother's estate, while was in the midst of reams of inkjet forms and letters. As luck would have it my other printer didn't quit printing until a month or so ago. This very reasonably priced printer spits out its pages very fast, works great at two sided pages and isn't running out of ink every three or four weeks.

I got a simple B/W only version for printing out work docs while we are at home during Covid. Only drawback is the cost of the refill Toner, seems a bit high, but I didn't have a coupon or a sale available. When the machine runs out, you need to have a backup cartridge ready or purchase a new one to print anything. (Can't shake it up for a few more copies like some other brands

Now suddenly it's decide to act up. I get error messages pop up on my laptop, but no info on what the error might be. . . I tried everything . . deleted/re-added printer, updated printer driver, turned off/on the printer, turned off/on the laptop. Nothing. Then I get one page printed, so I think it's back on track. Nothing. Sooooo frustrating. Have spent way too much time on troubleshooting. Troubleshooting on computer doesn't work because it says fixed, but nothing. At first my documents that were not printing showed up in the print queue and I would delete them and try again. Now, nothing even shows up in the print queue. I bought new toner. Aaaaaaaaaah!!!!!!

After 10 hours trying to install the Ubuntu 18.04 LTS Drivers and following the Brother on-line advice using GNU/Linux command prompt level. I can print text documents out of Libre Office, but no graphics. It won't print Foxfire or any pdf files. This is on a clean install. My HP printers work fine on Linux - automatically with Linux add printer - no command line needed. A friends' windows laptop can print to this printer. But not three variations of Ubuntu (Gnome, KDE, PopOS).

How can I use it when everything is hooked up, the toner is in, the paper is in and the green light is on. That's it. Nothing else; it will not print... "Cannot start print job." I have been spending up to 9 hours, for the passed 4 days/night, trying to figure it out. I'm just not going to. Would I recommend it to a friend? They're smart, so yes, I probably would. I'm too dumb to understand it, so this (nonprinter will just sit next to my desk and dry up the toner. I'm having issues with my scanner/printer/fax machine; can't get it to do anything.... at all. I am so sick of this! To describe my "expertise," as asked, I couldn't.

I contacted support which also failed to tell me how to turn off the printer. I learned by accident (by holding down the on/off key until it turned off. I hope those instructions have been added.

We print an average amount in a home setting. Used up the ink drum that came with the print and half the ink is left in the new one. only one jam. Printing is good. Its our primary printer. We have 3 other printers too. For years I was loyal to HP but I got fed up with the quality getting worse over time. I did extensive research and decided on this model plus I purchased a MFC - J6930DW. I happy with that one too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Reliable and Stress-free I plug it in, and it prints quickly and clearly even when it is on toner-save. Time after time it does exactly what I want it to do quickly without me having to do anything but plug it into the wall, and plug it into my computer. It doesn't matter if I have my wireless internet turned on in the house. There is no touch screen to malfunction and impede my progress. No paper jams in my 2+ years of using this faithful machine. Painless toner replacement. No ink leaks. I can plug it into a friends laptop who is over at my house who has no related software on their computer, and it immediately prints for them too. No hassle. Turns on immediately after you plug it in the outlet with no "on" button to hold down. As the reviewer who influenced my buying decision said "what do you know! You plug it in, and it [immediately] prints!" It is a tiny bit noisy but not excessively so. Another reviewer said it sounded like a small plane taking off a runway, but I do not think it is that loud. I wouldn't print with a newborn sleeping in the room, but other than that, it does not seem noisy to me. It is on my short list of worthy investments. I would keep in mind how many pages are listed on the various toner cartridge choices you select, however, so you have a realistic idea of when you need to purchase a new one.

Printer is fast, nice quality prints even on 300dpi (lowest setting. Printer driver works well on Win10 and has a good amount of settings, text print is clear. Very efficient use of toner cartridge. Only things to watch for are a bit noisy, toner smell comes out from cooling fan and draws a good amount of power to dim lights when you power it on. Not obvious is hold down the power button to shut off printer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Disappointed I have used BROTHER PRINTERS for years. Loved them. FINALLY, mine stopped. The DRUM LED lit up. I tried several times to get it to go away, but it would not. I looked online for support, but it was closed. I called STAPLES and they had no tech support. So I bought a new drum. STILL didn't work. So I returned it and bought a new printer bc I had a report I HAD to get out. Hooked all up and it told me to PLUG IN USB CORD. My old printer, which was the exact model, had no USB requirement. The box had no USB cord. I called STAPLES. Closed. I went online to Brother Support. Closed. I have done all I could WITH NO HELP. This rating is NOT for the products. It is for the LACK OF SUPPORT.

If you want it to be a bit more quiet, put out more $$ and get a more expensive printer. You get what you pay for - this is the least expensive decent quality printer you can get. If you don't want all the bells and whistles and have a standalone computer, this is just fine. You can share the printer through your OS too if you want it in a network.

I also like the fact that the Ready or On light goes dim when the printer is not in use. My previous Brother printer worked fine, even tho I never could figure out how to make it work wireless with wifi. That printer lasted 7 years and cost almost triple what the new HL-2320D cost. The 2320D is definitely a keeper!

We only needed black and white and only use it a few times a day so the toner is great. It won't dry out like the ink cartridges. Caught it on sale so it was even better!

However, the counter that forces you to replace the toner cartridge is a curse. I can be printing perfect images and suddenly I am forced to replace the (expensive cartridge. This is a devious marketing ploy. Shame on you.

The quality of the pages, (low picture use; mostly text and diagrams) has not declined.' For some reason, when I try to print a pdf. with a picture, the image preview AND the printed picture itself becomes very bloated with black ink and unrecognizable.

An added bonus I discovered is that the straight path also works from the tray. I needed this feature for printing certificates and it works very well. The duplex feature also works well and is a feature I appreciate. It has a small footprint. For me it is NOT a problem that it does not have wireless capabilities. All in all it is the perfect monochrome printer for me!

The high output toner package costs about as much as the printer and a replacement drum costs MORE than the original printer. This is useful for the person who prints 100 pages or less oer month. If you need the features of an "all-in-one printer or are likely to print a few hundred pages per month, there are better choices. The user whose needs are met with a good low volume no-wifi printer - the L2320D is a great choice.

Since I spend only three or four months at the location where this printer is located, I need one that will be up and ready to run when I arrive here in the Winter - this printer meets the bill.. Sending out 300 to 400 letters during this period of time requires a great machine. Color is of no importance. Other requirements are financial recordings, bank statements, tax records, investments, etc.

Have not had a paper jam problem in 4 months use. Only two downsides; one is graphics which are not sharp but for draft output it's not a concern. Secondly, response time from print command seems slow relative to my other printer. However, at a modest price it was a pleasant surprise for hardware used in a home business environment.

Just like my old one the prints are fast and clean. Unlike an inkjet printer I don't have to worry about the ink head problems if I don't use it for a while. The toner doesn't go bad and is so much cheaper ink.

Nice, big half-ream paper tray. Love that automatic duplex printing!

I have used HP LaserJet printers for many years and after moving up to Windows-07 HP had no full service drivers for my printer any longer, so the HP would no longer do duplex printing. For the lower price of a Brother printer and lower cartridge price, I tried this printer and was amazed by how easily I installed it and the duplex printing was very easy to select. The printer auto turns on for any print job and auto turns off 30 secs or so after you are done. This is a five star printer from start to finish! {:^)-{{{----[

By comparison, the extra features like better power management and duplex printing option are a great addition. After 2 weeks of heavy printing (I do income taxes am very satisfied with results. No jams, no software bugs, and still on the limited toner supplied. Would have been nice to have network capability as the 2070N had, but I can live with that. Great printer for the price.

That adds quite a bit to cost of maintaining it. My Brother 3045 color laser has the two combined so when I change the toner I am done.

I selected this kind of printer because I could use the printout for art projects which require that prints are done by a toner printer. My prints came out successfully, and the clearest I have seen, and I have been using printers for years!

The machine was crumbling paper. Paper was constantly getting stuck. Despite having an extended warranty it was a nightmare getting a new one. Brother wouldn't accept out PayPal receipt. After going to social media we finally got a new printer. Well now that one is constantly getting jammed. We have even tried to hand feed the shipping labels. Nothing works. OI spend more time unjamming the machine than I do printing labels.

While setting up the printer I realized there is no connection cable. Why the heck would Brother do this and make you buy a cable. So frustrating...Cartridge is already expensive as is. It is a good, reliable performer, enable me to print the text, black and white, that I demand for my work. While not something I would take for airline travel, the printer is lighter in weight than some laser printers, is black & white (I don't need/want color, and prints as quickly as I need it to print, pretty responsive. The desktop footprint is a very good size, not too big. The quality of printout is very good, meets my professional / personal needs. VERY satisfied with this printer, and have always, always purchased HP exclusively in the past. Looks like Brother is my new standard. Thanks.

Only A Couple Of Small Things... Depending On The Material Printed, There Can Be Slight Flaws, This Occurs Usually When There Are Larger Areas Of More Dark. For My Purposes This Is Not A Major Concern . Lastly The Print Cartridge ( toner ) That Was Provided With The Printer Is More Or Less A Joke. VERY Minimal Number Of Prints ! I Had Not In My Many Years ( and printers ) ' Seen The Like '. But All In All I Am Not Sorry I Purchased This Printer.

None of my other printers or computers do this. I thought it was energy star rated, but it seems to demand a lot of power. #2, It doesn't print very dark, even at the adjusted setting of "six." My old HP ink jet printer was much darker. The default setting is faint, and the adjusted setting is better, but still not impressive. It prints clearly, but just not very darkly.

Now I can't use my reserve cartridge. I also don't care for the low yield starter cartridge. Put in a full cartridge even if you have to charge an additional $10 for the printer. I ran out during an important print job and of course the office supply store was out of stock. Had plenty of old cartridges, just not the new ones

This printer is low quality. It is hardly legible on one side of the page. I tried other toners to no avail. I should have stuck with HP.

The warning light will blink about an hour before the toner runs out and that's the only warning you have.

I have an HL2140, but the fact that my 2320D prints both sides, without having to refeed the paper, is simply superior. I caught the printer on sale (although I had to buy a printer interface cable. But, the paper I'm going to save and the lack of aggravation of manual two sided print, is worth it. Love this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nothing But Problems! When this printer works, it's great. However, it doesn't work consistently and often has absolutely maddening problems. First, according to Windows 10 this printer isn't compatible with USB 3.0 or later. You'll need a legacy USB port on your computer for it to properly be able to communicate with this printer. However, in one of the more maddening problems, it'll work using USB 3.0 *sometimes*. Other times it won't and there is no consistent pattern of when it works and when it won't. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers 2-3 times and nothing will permanently fix this problem. I've also encountered multiple instances where it'll print 10-12 pages or so just fine, the rest of the document will be blank. According to the Brother Status program there's more than enough ink. This problem usually happens when printing PDFs, and using a different PDF reader doesn't fix the problem. I wish I'd done some research on this printer before buying one on Woot. I'll never own a Brother printer again.

If you don't need color printing for everyday life, this printer is a godsend. No more buying expensive ink cartridges that don't last and dry up and break the printer along with them. The laser toner gets more than 700 pages. Worth the price when you compare how much you get for ink cartridges. Needless to say, I am very happy with this purchase!

It is a laser printer so it uses toner which doesn't dry up and run out like inkjets I previously have used. I've never done any high volume of printing with it, but I've never had any real big issues with it like paper jamming or mechanical issues. It is a sturdy product that is well made and I believe will last me for many years to come.

I went to an office supply store. The printers in this price range had similar features being duplex printing and WIFI. I decided on this because it stored its paper beneath the printer as oppose to being exposed as was its competitor. The store's description as well as the printer's packaging claimed that it had WIFI. Upon returning home I discovered that it didn't have WIFI! OK overall, does the job, but I might not have purchased it if I had known beforehand that it didn't have WIFI and I had paid a lot for it by not ordering it online.

The single sheet feed works, but you have to be careful to make sure the sheet is exactly straight or it will print a slightly cockeyed page.

The customer service person said that the only way to print from a mobile device is to have the printer in the 'ready' mode by turning off the printer and then turning it on again. This is very inconvenient. It took three phone calls to even get this info. The first two calls only got me to reboot the printer, and then the printer worked so the customer service person said 'problem solved' and hung up. But the problem was only solved for a minute until the printer went into the sleep mode.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect printer for our needs We have used HP, Dell and Canon printers in the past, but this was our first Brother. We now see why Brother printers are so highly-rated. We do a lot of high volume research/informational printing, so don't usually need color or other "bells and whistles." This printer has been easy to set up and use. No complaints: we will definitely look to Brother for our printing needs in the future.

Also I was tired ot replacing the rather expensive ink cartridges every 6 weeks. I didn't need color and wanted a laser printer so bought this one. I love it so far. Was very simple and quick install. The ink cartridge that came with the printer just ran out and a replacement cartridge was about half what the HP 4-color pack cost. Also very easy to install. I do wish it had a copier function.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good product! This was an excellent buy. Although it takes a few seconds to warm up, the printer prints well and the 2 sided printing and "toner save" mode saves on paper and having to buy a toner cartridge quickly again. The printer looks nice and is durable.

This little machine is a work horse! I've had the printer for 2 months and I'm still using the toner cartridge that came with it! No bells or whistles, only great, reliable printing!

I'm a new user and have not fully assessed the longevity of the toner. I purchased the XL cartridge for my second replacement. All other aspects are as expected and overall, very good.

What I don't like is that it is loud and it's smelly while printing. Maybe those things are typical... i really don't know.

Free shipping, so I bought it. I don't have any need for wireless and thought a corded one would be fine. Guess what - they didn't ship it with a cord! Luckily I had one that worked. But it has printed nicely and I can't really tell the difference in the toner saver print and regular print. It is fast, but as some others have said, quite loud. Overall I'm satisfied with it, but time will tell. I've only printed maybe 25 pages so far.

I also have the color laser printer for when I need more "pop" in my presentations. All were easy to set up and perform well. I only wish it was wireless, but since the other printers I have are wireless, it was not a necessary feature for me. I also feel it is very reasonably priced.

After the unpacking and user-friendly set up of this printer, it was truly a seamless experience. I did not follow the CD set up, in turn, I just implemented plug and play which got things rolling rather quickly. The laser printing experience with this printer is amazing! While this device only prints black; however, what you get is a rich color experience that is not messy nor smudgy. This printer does not copy, scan nor fax; however, it does print the return and main address of envelopes quite efficiently. Additionally, any printing can be done on this plug and play unit. I personally have chosen to use this printer with my desktop HP as it is hard-wired to this unit. I cannot stress enough how efficient Brother’s printers are when it comes to jobs that are large and/or small. I bought this unit as a repeat buyer as this is my 4th Brother printer. I knew first hand I would get robust features at economical pricing. I will always repeat buy Brother’s printers, because in me, they have a sister for LIFE!!!!

I already have an inkjet printer, but I needed a higher quality printer for my non-color print-outs. So, I purchased this monochromatic laser printer. It prints quickly and efficiently, which is a little surprising at this price point! Sometimes, the printer has difficulty recognizing thicker papers, like cardstock, especially from the bottom tray. So, I usually have to use the front page feeder. Apart from that, and the fact that I cannot print wirelessly without the use of a USB cable, this printer Is close to perfect!

No head cleaning, No paper jams, No waiting till I update software, I don't have to go spend $30 on ink every time I want to print 4 pages, no spending 2 hours trying to get it to work. It actually does what it was intended for. I have been printing up a storm and I am still on the original ink cartridge. Prints good every time. I wish had bought this a long time ago!

Particularly trouble is the fact that 98% of my print jobs are black and white text. Simplest task in the world. Customer service was completely unhelpful. I guess the old adage "you get what you pay for" is true. But the thing is, my expectations were low. This purchase was only meant to last 6 months before upgrading machine. But the experience was so bad I question whether I want to try an upgraded model of this brand.

Instead, I plugged it into a power strip with an on-off switch, so to turn the printer on and off I use the switch for the power strip. Still, a disappointment.

My only small complaint is that they changed the part size and nos. slightly from the near-identical models of the last few years, so recently purchased replacements for drum and toner (for Brother machine that mysteriously broke down couldn't be transferred to new unit.

This is the first one I have had where I can print both sides of the paper without having to manually turn the page. Love that I can switch between regular printing and a mode using less ink for jobs that aren't going to anyone but me. It is fast and quiet when printing and easily can handle doing envelopes and shipping labels.

It runs all throughout the day and is loud and I don't understand why. The cartridge does not yield as many pages as advertised. On occasion it will not print at all and you don't see the pending pages in the cache. One time it did print until an hour later. Often all the lights go out for no reason. I also had a difficult time trying to determine how to cut it off as the instructions were not clear.

Also new toner cartridges won't break your pocketbook. The paper tray holds a lot of paper compared to the HP that it replaced. The setup for Win 10 was easy and fast. Printout is excellent. Rated 5 out of 5 by from good, with a flaw The printer works well for most uses , but it has one flaw: in order to print an envelope, the back of the printer must be opened, and 2 levers in the back must be depressed. This is annoying in general, and especially to me, because my printer back is not accessible unless I move the printer about a foot and turn it around, so that I can get at the back cover. If I knew about this in advance, I would not have purchased this printer

Speed is not super fast but enough for my needs. Good features, easy paper loading,and a flat top so papers I put on top don't slide off. Yeah, it rocks!

When I got a Windows 10 computer I could not use the HP 1012 printer I had since "it was older and no longer supported". That made me so mad I picked up the Brother printer that a friend suggested. I am glad I did. This gem is quick, prints well, and the toner is much cheaper than the HP stuff. I was very surprised to find that this unit also did two sided printing which has saved me a lot of time and paper. Thank you HP for your lousy support that made me buy this much better Brother printer.

One thing that was missing was a cable to hook up the printer to the computer. I called Brother and told me I had to purchase it separately. As far as printing, it does a nice job.

Customer support was less than helpful though, since I bought the printer at a surplus/salvage store and didn't have an itemized receipt, but it was new and didn't come with a print cartridge. I bought one from a different brand, for 1/3 the price of an actual brother print toner and it's working group great.

This replaces another Brother black and white printer that I had for several years until I wore it out. This cost less than the other printer and does just as good a job. I print manuscripts two or three hundred pages long with no problem.

The print speed was good for regular paper, but if you want to switch between regular paper and a label (such as printing a packing list then a shipping label) the printer is slow. This is because the labels have to go through the manual feed one at a time. Also, the manual feed does not appear to have adequate measures to insure that paper loads straight, which means that your labels will not always be aligned with the print (currently only 70% of them are aligned correctly). Otherwise, a good printer especially for the price.

The cost effectiveness of this monochrome printer will have you not only printing in black, but operating in the black. Have been using earlier models of this printer for years and they are all very dependable and maintain their print quality. Although I have been using it for only 2 months, I expect the same track record for the HL-L2320D. The very reasonable price of this printer makes it very, very cost effective, especially if the high yield TN660 toner cartridges it uses are purchased on the Internet for under $15 with shipping. I've used the HL-L2320D for three months now and really like the auto-duplexing and the print quality. It's fast and reasonably quiet. A technician was very helpful on the phone to get me started on creating my own "profile," which tailored printing jobs to the most-often used configuration. CONS: I have found the online manual cumbersome to use, and wonder why it can't simply be downloaded so I can print a hard copy. And the CD that came in the box was outdated, which caused me some grief until I downloaded the latest version from the Brother website.

Printing manually comes out crooked and wrinkled most times. Have worked with support, did everything suggested and still problem continues. Envelopes and single sheet does the same thing. The paper / envelope do not feed straight with any consistency. I totally like the unit otherwise, I just changed my methods on certain printing aspects to use the tray feed instead. I would rather use the feed slot on these single feed applications.

They are very similar products. The print quality and speed is fine for most basic office or home office applications. It rarely jams and is it easy to change cartridges. It is better than most cheaper printers that need so many refill cartridges that they cost more than the printer. A laser printer needs a new drum and cartridge only after a long period of use. It can also be set up as a wireless.

Using a toner cartridge instead of inkjet allows for a better quality print & does not smudge if it gets wet. I bought this unit because my parents needed a printer and I took my old brother over there, it's still going strong after 10 years! This new unit is essentially a new and improved version of the same printer, I essentially bought the same printer over again. I love the keep it simple approach of black and white laser printing and all it does is print, not copying or scanning. It's also fairly small and compact because of that. Great work Brother! I wish all companies made quality products that last like these have for me! I'm hoping the price for color laser printing comes down a bit. If it does I might get the Brother printer that looks similar to this but prints in color.

I really wasn't expecting much at this price point, but I was pleasantly surprised. From "sleeping" mode to printing is exceptionally fast (remember an inkjet printer has to "wipe its nose" and then some before it can print. If I'm in a hurry, time is of the essence and the Brother delivers!

So we recalled a business partner years ago would only by Brother printers. So we went to local store so we could bring it home quickly..I liked the features on this lower price printer and did not need wireless..Less problems with direct hook up. It was 2 days later we noticed the option to print 2 sides..WOW..It is a paper saver for sure...and then we saw the option to collate..Great. They are great, reliable, high quality. The downside is that support for Linux has always been spotty and I keep it attached to a Linux server. The workaround I found was to configure it in "raw" mode (no printer specific driver) on the server and then manually configure the drivers on my Mac and Windows clients.

I only give it five stars because the amount of toner in the cartridge that comes with the printer is a "starter". Come on, when someone gets a new printer he/she is looking into a device that will last a reasonably good time without having to worry about costly cartridge replacements. But companies have decided long ago that this is the way to go, and I'm against it.

I am still glad I bought it, although I was a bit disappointed by it. Why? Because it lacks a WiFi interface for printing from mobile devices, and it would not connect directly to my All-In-One PC's USB 3.0 port. My tech-savvy brother suggested placing an old USB 2.0 port expander in between this printer and my PC's USB 3.0 port; and WALLAH! -- that made it work just fine.

This printer prints great and works well on letter size paper.....but I hate having to open up the back door on it and push 2 green levers down for manual printing of envelopes, etc. There has to be a better way! I wouldn't have bought it if I would have known this! I would have looked at another brands offering.

I have twice paid security hold costs and I just cant wait to receive the third printer. When I made inquiry what is the process if the third printer doesn't work I was informed by Brother Customer Service Supervisor that I will need to replace it again for another printer and be charged for additional security hold. This is the worse problem resolution I have ever encountered.

But I haven't used it yet because the one I bought this one to replace is still working. I have several Brother laser printers and always highly recommend them to my friends. I've used them for years and they are the best. Plus the one issue I had on the existing one was totally solved by Brother Customer Service. As far as I'm concerned Brother makes the best Laser printers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good printer for the $$ Decided to give this Brother a try. I've always been an HP small laser fan because of the reliability and size. We have 3 homes: NH, NH camp, and FL. I needed to replace an old 1012 for camp, getting old (13+ years), can't get correct driver for newer computers. The Brother was on sale at Staples so I gave it a try - Works well, fast print. It's a little larger than the small HPs, if you have limited space. Also you need to remember which way it prints if doing double side - Prints on downside and top of page is toward the outside of paper draw.

Should have purchased this YEARS AGO -- only wish it had copier function. Don't want fax or scan. Have an all in one, so scanning with that to make copy with Brother. No more buying those EXPENSIVE cartridges for the all in one -- they dry out before I can use them fully. HATE THAT!!!! Prints checks clearly and quickly. It uses toner rather than ink cartridges so we expect the toner to last quite a long time!

However, we all liked the performance and quality so much that I was faced with how to best share the computer between our multiple computers. I found that our Linksys wireless router had a means of sharing a printer USB port which has proven to be a viable solution. Now we all can use the Brother!

It's economical (less than $100), reliable, easy to set-up and network. I can print from anywhere in the house. No more running downstairs to my desktop. Also holds a large amount of paper (250 sheets). Replacement toner cartridges are affordable and have a large capacity. This is a nice companion to our Brother inkjet printer and copier. I whish it would scan a document that would be a great feature as I could copy or scan it into my lap top. I use it with Print Friendly, a Google extension ( removes the junk and it works great. Printed out a 100 pages last night and it was flawless and quick. Print quality is very good, speed is excellent and 2 sided printing is fast. Much better than using my inkjet for B/W text. .

Unfortunately, it doesn't warn me when my toner is getting low unless I run a report. Also jams from time to time, which is a pretty easy fix. Otherwise I'm overall satisfied over my prior inkjet printers. Good buy! Happy so far.

The print drum finally needed replacing and the last toner cartridge ran empty. With the price of the replacement drum and cartridge being almost double what I could get the HL-L2320D for on sale, it was a no brainer. Have been using this printer for 30 days. This printer does almost as well as the former printer. My dislikes: photos in grey scale have banding in them. The older model never had this problem. Since I don't need perfect photos when printing on this laser, I will live with it. It is also noisier. A positive: when single sheet feeding paper, this printer seems to grab the paper more consistently so it does not skew on its way into the print head. Former model skewed single sheet fed paper often.

However, this is our first laser printer and it prints such quality material and quickly. I love all of the features as far as loading the paper and putting in a new drum, which we have not had to do yet. I love the fact that we don't have to constantly buy printer ink like we did with our other printer.

All are Brother- the 3rd one is a HL 2040. Set up of the HL 2320D was a bit confusing, but once running it is very easy to use, and the print quality is excellent. Double sided printed is slow, naturally, but does a very good job of saving paper.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fast Set up & a Workhorse This was a perfect solution for me. It's easy to use and always ready to print. It's quieter than most of the other printers I've owned. Since it's a toner based printer, I never have to worry about dried out ink cartridges which was an issue because I don't print every day. It's doesn't make a large footprint on the shelf. The cartridges are not that expensive when I started adding up the cost of ink cartridges that run out too soon or dry out between uses.

Then it says it needs toner, even though a brand new cartridge was installed. It refuses to print; says it is in error state. I tried unplugging; reloading with disk. Refuses to function. Had to buy a new printer. I would not recommend this printer.

Print quality, especially at a nice price, is excellent; good speed, few jams, etc. Biggest issue is noisiness when printing - I keep it on the top of my desk and it scared me when I first used it. Otherwise excellent. It was cheaper to buy this than to replace toner cartridges in my HP 1600 !

My Samsung laser printer lasted 6 years without problems and still worked when I bought this one. I've had a Brother MFC-240C ink jet multifunction printer for at least 4 years. I've never had a problem with it and still enjoy its use. The ink is a bit expensive and it constantly cleans itself with ink even when I don't use it months on end. Positive: + I like how it prints on two sides itself without me having to turn the pages over. + I like how it has a toner saver and a text / graphic option. + It stays way much cooler than my old Samsung laser printer. The Samsung heated up a lot. + Easy setup. + I got a brand new laser printer for the same cost as a Samsung off-brand toner cartridge. + It takes thicker paper that my Samsung would not. Negative: - It is noisy. - It did not come with a necessary USB cord. I had to use the one from my old Samsung laser printer. That made me upset. It is like saying do you want the screws to hold the laser printer together then pay extra for them. I am pleased so far with working with the laser printer for two months. Lets hope it will go many years without problems.

But on large printing jobs the printer starts smudging and the prints are unreadable, so I have to turn the printer off to let it cool down. After cooling down the prints are just fine again. For small printing jobs it is a very good printer with very good quality prints, but in my opinion for continuous high volume printing, I would suggest a large volume printer.

When I select Automatic Long Edge duplex printing under special features, I get Manual Long Edge selected, even though I do actually get Automatic Long Edge Perfoirtmance. A minor problem easily fixed in a drivewr update.

The double side printing stopped working in the middle of a task and tech support was not able to help troubleshoot. This model is only good for occasional use, not good investment for small business, not a work horse. I ended up returning it and purchased the HL-L2380DW instead.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Impressive value and reliability. I am loving automatic two sided printing. I buy lots of older electronics that do not have the manuals with them anymore. I can download the various operators manuals and Technical manuals bind them together and get to working on them. Impressive quality and engineering went into this printer. Not a single paper Jam to date. (About 1800 pages to date.) The only down side is the smaller capacity toner cartridge that comes with it. Lasted about 65 pages that had bold print and heavy lines. When it runs out I will buy the higher print copy cartridge.

I purchased this printer as a replacement for a HP and while it performs adequately for most of my uses there is one area that needs improvement. When using the single-sheet manual mode, the paper refuses to load squarely with the print engine. Thus, the resulting print will be crooked or mis-registered. This is distressing when you are trying to print a page of 30 small labels. The paper alignment guides are basically useless. There is no extension to support the sheet of labels and on several occasions, the page caught on exit, causing a wrinkled sheet of labels.

As for printing, it's clear, clean and convenient. Not being able to print labels is extremely disappointing due to the business I am in.

Text and photos are very clear, however I do think the regular print intensity is somewhat light and I don't see anyway of making it darker. When set to toner saver mode, it is somewhat hard to read the small text. Otherwise, a very nice printer for the money.

It does duplex black & white printing right out of the box, which is a great time saver (our business' previous printer had to be manually re-loaded to print on the reverse side). The only drawbacks are it's a bit noisy and the paper tray doesn't hold a full ream of paper, but those are minor quibbles.

Have not tried printing on both sides of the paper yet. Good to print from a laptop wirelessly but desktop has to be on. My printer is connected to the desktop. It doesn't come with the cable to connect with the desktop but my old cable fit just fine,I have seperate scanner so now have to buy another cable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worst printer ever I have had Brother 2140s and they both accepted compatible toners without problem. They both lasted years. I purchased an HL-L2320D 2 months ago and have spent more time printing at UPS than on this printer. The entire problem is it makes it as difficult as possible to use a compatible which should be my choice. Try to use one and the toner light will never go off. I called into support and they gave a special reset process to go through. It worked but they said I should only do it once as the quality will get worse each time you do it. I just put in the second toner, light wouldn't go off, I did the reset process anyway and it doesn't work this time. I'm going to have to ditch this new printer and go to another brand. Disappointed at the waste of money buying it.

Biggest draw back for me is that a new drum unit will cost me more than the complete unit cost. I really like the two sided printing. It is so handy and better yet half the paper. The manual could be better. I still have not gotten the scanner to work right, or maybe it is working right and I am wrong again. It is much lighter and faster speed than the HP laser jet 4+ that it replaced plus doing more things.

Being unhappy with the Lexmark and HP printers because of their ink cartridges that dry up between my occasional use, and other failures I returned to Staples and was introduced to your economical unit with a cartridge that will not dry and fail. Realizing the superior reliability of my Phone/fax unit I purchased the printer and will rate it at 100% reliability. Not being very computer savy I required help from your tech department for setup. The lady was so GREAT, she stayed patiently on the line until I accomplished each step , had to cancel the process and start over to get the printer working. I do hope she gets promoted!!!! When the need arises for additional electronic products, I will first investigate your superior products. KUDO'S to you Best Regards Harry

This new model is more difficult when running Manuel sheet feeds. It is just engineered poorly. A rear door has to be opened and two tabs switched. As with all these inexpensive printers, the toner replacements are nearly as expensive as the printer. I don’t feel this is necessary and the mark-up on the cartridges is huge. Can’t rate this higher.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for text. Not so great for graphics. This is my first Laser printer. I love it for text, but graphics were a disappointment. There were horizontal bands of varying density in grey areas. Product support was good. I e-mailed them with a photo of the problem, and they said to clean the drum. I did, and it didn't help. After another e-mail a technician phoned me. I suspected a series of diagnostics, but instead he just said they would exchange the machine. The new machine did the same. Another e-mail and they sent a replacement drum assembly. It's better, but the bands are still there. So, if you just need text or pure black and white, it's super. Graphics are recognizable, but poor compared to an inkjet.

I've not been able to get the drivers to work with my Ubuntu operating system.They load, a window says everything is up and running, but it won't print. I finally solved the problem by installing .Windows 7 Pro on a spare hard drive. The printer works just fine in Microsoft Windows, but Linux - not so good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Printer Not having the experience of setting up any equipment prior to purchasing the Brother-HL-L2320D but always depending on a family member to set it up, I was pleasantly surprised when I first tried to assemble the few parts in the packing box. The pictures shown on the Quick Setup Guide was very helpful to me. The details were adequate which made It simple to follow. I am petite and in my mid-70's but I was able to lift the printer to the printer shelf on my computer desk. That is because there are convenient handles on the printer which does not show but look like part of the design.

I've never had a paper jam that wasn't my own fault (something sitting on top of the printer), and it never stops. Definitely worth every penny I spent on it, and then some.

I print them all as well as 80 to 100 assignment sheets every 2 weeks. My Brother printer handles that load plus other incidental chores with ease and has presented no problems all season. I expect to use it for many seasons to come.

Envelopes and odd size pieces of paper are easy to print; something I appreciate very much. The print is wonderful. My last printer was an HP Ink Jet. This one's terrific in comparison. It was priced fairly -- and overall it's one of the best printers I have owned.

Not only has the quality of their products changed so has the quality of customer service. My product broke after only 5 months and it's been a battle trying to resolve what was suppose to be a manufacturer warranty. I travel so I only use the printer on weekends. With ink jets printers, it always seemed the ink dried at the nozzle and stopped working. With these great Brother laser printers, no problem, they alwayts print! Yea!

In terms of value, it also makes sense to purchase a laser printer as the toner cartridge produces a lot of copies and the cost is reasonable compared to the number of copies with an ink cartridge which ends up costing you many times the cost of the printer. I replaced the previous Brother printer after approximately 10 years as it started to jam periodically and it still had the original drum so it made sense to replace as the toner was running very low. You cannot go wrong with a Brother.

I do a lot of black and white printing from my laptop and have wore out several inkjet printers. I was always having problems. I've been giving my HL-L2320D a workout for over a year and it does what it is supposed to do . . . PRINT. It is compact. Great if you have limited space or a lot of other IT equipment. I strongly recommend it to anyone who needs quality printing and reliability.

I could not have made a better choice in getting this printer at a very competitive price. I highly recommend this product without any doubt and hesitation.

I have enjoyed the convenience of printing at home which minimizes my time usage at school. Thanks to this printer I don't have to wait in line for my turn at the copier. It is a bit noisy but prints really quickly.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Bargain user friendly Cost less than cartridges for my inkjets. Cheaper to maintain and faster than my HP laser jet IV and doesn't curl the paper. Holds more paper and quieter than any of the machines it replaced. Love it! I print about a ream and a half a month. I love the paper capacity.

Now, I don't know how I ever did without one. It's so fast and not noisy like an ink jet. It prints beautifully. It's also a nice looking printer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's Simple, And It Works. This printer is compact, simple to use, and effective for light office use. My device uses wired USB connection only. I consider it a big plus that, unlike recent hp products, it does not require installation of unnecessary network communication software. It is plug-and-play on Windows 7 and Ubuntu 22.04 Linux. The only downside of this printer is that the Linux driver does not allow paper size to be set to user-chosen dimensions. The preset dimensions do not include No. 10 Envelope printing as a choice. The workaround is to lay out envelope text in the vertical center of a "sheet of paper" document, request "landscape" printing, and insert the envelope's narrow end into the nice automatically-centering single-sheet feed. I note that the driver was apparently included with my System76 Linux machine, but neither Brother nor System76 support personnel were aware of this when I asked them about compatibility.
