The PT-D600 is a versatile, PC-connectable label maker well suited for a variety of labeling usages in a business environment. Quickly create professional-looking labels using the built-in keyboard, or connect to a computer to create more personalized labels. The intuitive, full-color graphical display offers easy access to formatting menus as well as the ability to preview actual label appearance before printing. Just type, format and print. You can even save up to 99 labels in the large memory, a great time-saving feature. With its included AC power adapter and USB cable, you can be confident that your label maker will be ready when you are. The PT-D600 works with 5 different TZe tape widths - and the convenient, top-loading tape design lets you easily change tape cassette sizes. Standard TZe tapes are durable and laminated, so they withstand water, heat and fading.

Works great, fast, and has a user friendly app for desktop printing. You are able to save label templates so once set up makes printing file folder label or medical records labels easy. Highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice printer but a few issues I selected this particular printer for a few reasons, the most important being the ability to connect to my PC and also to print a variety text styles, including italics and to be able to print weather resistant labels. However, I recently upgraded my pc to Windows 11. While your website says it is compatible, it doesn’t work. While Otis possible to print in italics, it is quite challenging when mixing different font styles.

However, I am a previous owner of a PT 9600PRO and this was it’s closest replacement. I can’t help but be disappointed with features that are not available on this model such as not taking the larger tapes.

At first I thought I was a little expensive for a label maker but once I got it home and started using it and saw what all it could do I changed my mind. Well worth the money. It has a ton of features and the supplies for it are very reasonable. It's easy to use out of the box and the instructions are easy to understand. I've made labels for things I didn't need to label just to try out some of the neat stuff it does.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Disapointed This label maker is disappointing in a couple of areas. In the size of your fonts it skips sizes. There is no happy medium for making file labels. My file label end up either being too large due to the length of my titles or too small to read in order to fit the tab. Also, this label maker wastes way too much tape! I was am not happy with this label maker as it does not fit my needs at work but as the company paid for it, I cannot complain or return it and they will not pay for another type or brand. I do like, however, that it will run off of AC adapter or batteries.

It attaches to your PC and you can use the P-Touch software to create just about any kind of label you desire. Of course, with the built-in keyboard, you can create one-off labels quickly and easily. The PT-D600 takes a variety of label sizes, colors and types. Love this device. I bought one a few years back while employed at a large financial company and I bought this one for my small business that I run now that I'm retired. Can't say enough good things about this label printing machine!

I was bothered by how much tape I waste, 1" before and at the end of my label adds up to wasting a LOT of tape. And the tape cartridges are not inexpensive. After ready WHY this happens, I understand. I love the multiple options and uses.

I need a printer that can be programmed on a PC and the '600 has that capability and so much more. I like that it can accommodate a variety of size tapes. I like that it can use graphics also. I have not used the built in keyboard, but it does add the option that the '1230 did not. Overall I am quite satisfied with new printer.

The PT Touch editor will not run on Big Sur (it quits upon use. While Brother is aware of this issue the support people do not have a clue.

I do get tired of losing 3/4" of tape for every label I print but I can just print multiple labels at a time to prevent that. I am not fond of the 6" limit and lose out on some "fancy features". Sure would be handy to have a "cut" button for when the tape does not cut when it is done printing. Then there is the PTouch software (Mac version which can do some things the hardware alone cannot. BUT it is buggy and not everything works as advertised. The pesky 6" limit can occasionally be overcome; The cursor keys do not always work; Text editing is hit or miss; Select All sometimes does not. Overall I like it, and am learning to work around the limits. I am quite happy I bought it.

I'm using similar models for at least 10 years and decided to upgrade to newer model. Unit is very nicely design and easy to use. My only complaint is, for now, PRINT button has switched sides with POWER, so I need to remember correct button location.

The one thing I don't like is how much tape it wastes advancing the initial cut off for each label and I can't see how to reduce or eliminate that.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from PC interface makes all the difference... As a stand alone laber, this is a fine device, but where it really shines is when connected to a PC. Not only does this provide a better, much more powerful interface, it dramatically reduces the amount of tape wasted. In stand alone, the default is to put a large blank space before and after the text. With the PC, you can easily remove this. There is still some tape wasted with a short leader that is automatically cutoff, but it is much better. I have also found cheaper 3rd party tapes that work very well. The result is a labeller that works very well, and is inexpensive to operate.

The software is clearly outdated and it's extremely difficult to do something as simple as printing multiple labels back to back. Probably the most annoying thing is that my company requires Helvetica font on all labels, and of course this font is included in the printer and not the connectable software.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Upping My Organization & Baking Game! Brother Employee & Product Owner: I've had my Brother PT-D600 for years now, and I couldn't be happier with it. I knew there might be one or two things I could use it for when I got one, but having it in my kitchen or home office (it floats between the two keeps it top-of-mind for lots of projects I would never have thought of. I love to bake and make candy and have it out when I host friends and bring it to the office or to family events. I use my P-touch to name my creations and list out key ingredients, to know what flavor profile to expect, and to ensure anyone with allergies knows whether to partake or stay away. I'm constantly changing up the fonts and frames and adding symbols - everyone knows to expect that from my treats by now. For organizing my workspace, this model is great for me because it can also connect to the computer. I use the keyboard 90% of the time, but now and again there's a certain image/logo I'm thinking of, or I want to feed off of an existing data set without recreating it manually, and connecting the USB cord makes that easily accomplished. It's also great that this one goes up to an inch in width, so I can add a few lines of text at a time, or just have big bold images/words. I recommend this model for anyone who wants the greatest versatility in where it's being used, what's being labeled, and what design options you'll need!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to Use The ONLY reason I do not give this product five stars is because of the wasted tape at the beginning of every print job. I mean, the machine can chain print several copies of a label and cut each label as it prints without that wasted tape between copies. So why does it HAVE to waste tape at the beginning of one label??? Other than that, I highly recommend this product. I like that I can set up a label using my PC and save it for future use. I have not had any problems with tape jams, separating or malfunctioning. No regrets with my purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from PT-D600 is the Bomb! This is a totally unsolicited review. I bought this label maker after using another company's label maker for well over 20 years. I'm not sure why I used the other brand since you could hardly peel the tape off, and it hardly stuck to anything. After researching this P-Touch PT-D600 online and with some help from customer support, I settled on this particular unit. One of the things that was important was the variable sizes of labels that I could make. My husband is always asking me to make labels for his binders, so the ability to make one inch labels is extremely useful. Out of the box, I plugged it in and was up and running. I've made labels for the dog and cat food bins, and their treats. Next up is to label the organizational box I bought for the parts for my Brother CS7205 Sewing Machine. All those "feet" will now have their own little section which will make finding them easier. I love the variety of labels available. The only downside is the size of the manual, which is small to begin with and very tightly bound, and the print is so small. No worries, I printed off the manual from the support page and can now read it without issues.

One thing to be aware of, you cannot use old TZ tapes, just the TZe. The editor software has been simplified somewhat, but sometimes it can be a challenge.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Deceptive feature list The user guide lists as a feature the ability to transfer up to 9 label templates. This is an outright falsehood. I bought this unit based on this feature so I could create my own templates. Anything you create on a PC and upload to the device is read only. You can not edit other than on the PC. This makes the device useless unless you are tethered to a PC.

They needed signage in different sizes, fonts and I included some graphics. Even the call button labels I imported a logo for each branch of service to include with the name and they turned out great even though they had to be resized quite a bit. It is a good package software and hardware.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from PT-D600 I've owned a couple of other label printers in the past and the Brother PT-D600 beats them all hands down, no doubt. I love being able to link directly to the computer, but I need to get more experience with the software. The software is not as intuitive as I would like it to be. I have trouble sizing the label and getting the text centered so as not to cut off either the first few letters or clipping the last few letters of the label. It usually takes me a couple of tries to get it right. But, this problem is probably "just me" and not the machine or the software. The quality of the label itself is the best I've seen. I'd recommend this to anyone and will probably buy at least two more as family gifts. I use this printer as a personal home label printer and not for a business.

It is very user friendly, it has numerous additional functions and can label a variety of products. The ability to connect it to your computer is a huge plus which gives it some added features. I use it to label allot of my hobby items. This is hands down worth the money, even though it is a little on the pricey side.

I purchased it for the ability to print wider width labels. I connected it to my computer and was able to download a spreadsheet with information and it made it much easier and faster to print labels. A great purchase overall

This labeler never ejects the tape, regardless of what width tape is used, the label just wads up in the machine, and has to be opened to get the label out. Never had this problem with any of the other Brother Labelers I've owned (several) Display is great, and seems it will print any font you have on your computer when using that great feature.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from PT-D600 I was very disappointed to use the new PT-600 after years of use out of the pt-2730. The functions are harder to use, it takes longer to do simple tasks. This is a label maker for someone making a few labels a day if you need to rely on a label maker to be productive look at a higher end label maker. It will save 99 of your most common labels however it wont let you title them so if you have different versions of similar text you are out of luck. The PT-600 only requires 6 AA batteries instead of the 8 of the older version, the life of the batteries is significantly shorter, what used to last a month now lasts 2 weeks and not to mention why does the ac charger not recharge nicad or li-ion batteries. Get with the times.

I print small amounts of several labels and each time I print a set of labels the labeler wastes 1" of label adding up to as much as 20" of tape wasted during each print sesson. I feel that you should be able to select several stored labels from the print file and then print them all at one time eliminating wasted material. Am I'm missing something, if so let me know?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Poor performance so far. It eats the labels The labels get stuck in the machine. I have wasted more label stock then I got successful labels. I opened a support case to see about returning it or seeing if there was a fix. They told me they were going to send me a new label cartridge. While I was waiting for the cartridge to arrive, they closed the case because there was no response. What the WHAT!!!!! How could I respond to anything when the last message from them was that it was shipped and would be here in a few days/week. They should have put it on hold. Now I need to open another case and start over. I got the cartridge 3 days after the case was closed. I haven't had time to test the unit with the cartridge they sent yet. I figure it will still misfeed, since I have tried 3 different cartridges, that I purchased at the same time as the unit, all different sizes, and they all misfed.

Cons: Wish that it had Linux support (Ubuntu as well as software for use in Ubuntu. Hardware makers really need to start embracing linux.

Once I looked it over I realized what it was, but I wasn't really disappointed because this actually is more versatile than one of the DYMO label makers. Overall it is a nice machine and I am very happy with it.

This beats them all. With the ablility to connect to my PC and use different size label tape this takes care of every possible labeling need I could have. Very happy!

Very happy with this new model, even though we don't use ALL of the features! Would appreciate an easier way to open/replace label cartridges. This model is a bit clunky/awkward to open, compared to our old one.

Had to take the first purchase back to the retailer since it wouldn't connect with PC correctly (even with tech support help). Tech support was very helpful and did what they could but determined that I should return the device. Decided to give it one more try and exchanged for the same device and the second one, worked well with no trouble interfacing with computer. P-touch Editor is basic, but not intuitive so there is a learning curve in learning how to edit labels. Prints labels really well. Would be nice if there were larger width options for labels. Max is .94" 1.5" would be better...

I labled a glass container when i got mine home and that has been over a month in Texas heat! And it is still attached and no smearing at all. I don't know what esle to ask for. One more mention i adore is that i need not a computer to do the job. Awesome!!!!

The one thing I take issue with is the waste of tape when the unit prints. there should be a way to limit the amount of tape that is blank and in some cases cut off and thrown away. this is not a problem with just this unit it is a function of all the labelers on the market...

It takes different widths of tape, there are many different fonts and you can change the font size, spread the words out, make them narrower, print one line or two and one or more copies. I have complained to Brother and you gave me new .47 mm tapes. Those too jam and bind up in the machine. I have complained a second time and have requested a new machine. It has been 5 days but still haven't heard from Brother yet. I was told I'd get a an email when my replacement shipped. However, I haven't heard anything yet. Hope to hear from Brother by tomorrow.

Since day one the PT-D600 has jammed coming out of the cartridge about 2 out of 3 times on both devices, using a multitude of different tapes. Removed bristle piece and it helped, but still jams about 1 out of 2 times. Wastes a lot of tape and time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Peeling the back off of labels used to be a pain The PTD600 removed the friction I had with creating labels. My previous label makers had one font and worst of all would take me too long to peel back a corner to get the label put on the item. The split back makes it quick and easy to use these durable labels. The PTD600 gives me the flexibility to create nice looking labels and in the size that I need. I now have all my cords going to surge strips labeled so I know what to unplug rather than tracing the cords every time. The builtin cabling template made these easy by printing twice with a space in the middle so that the label can wrap around the cable and be visible from both sides. I find I use it mostly as a standalone labeler, but appreciate the ability to connect to my computer to do something creative. The QWERTY keyboard makes type labels much easier than the old label makers.

The PD 600 totally for the bill. There's enough options to do lots of fun things with it and still keep my professionalism for the business. Great machine.

So when I needed to replace my first one it was a no braner to purchase another brother product! I Love my New P-touch PT-D600, it has so many New features than my first P-touch! The software makes it possible to make 'Vertical' labels with multi characters on one line possible. Being a Jukebox collector, flexible vertical printing for numbering is essential.

The computer-connection option is very useful and once the software is installed, the device interfaces easily with my computer. My PT-6000 is a good, quality device that I use often.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best of both worlds! Grab and type convenience plus PC connected flexibility means this model really gives you the best of both worlds. It's a little larger than lower model number units with built in keyboards from their current lineup, but also much smaller than the older Brother label makers of the 90's-2000's. Has an automatic tape cutter, which is great for big jobs when making multiple copies of the same label. My ONE gripe is the graphical interface. Well, it's actually 2 gripes: First, there aren't a ton of features built in to the graphical interface on the machine. But, you can still get most things done on the device without using a computer. I can tell this was intentional to keep the unit easy to use, but I wish I could do everything the app does on the unit itself without turning on a computer. But that would be a LOT to ask. When creating a label on the device, you have to select a standard format template, which may not match your desired label style. You can't add your own templates and when you store PC created labels on the unit, you're limited to 9 pre-designed labels that you can recall and print, but they can't be edited or modified from the device itself. The storage of 99 labels on the device is referring to labels that were CREATED on the device. Second: The display is not high resolution by any means, and there are glossy reflective lines that show up in it. This is the same type of LCD that you see on older paper printers from a decade ago. However again, in their defense, the screen doesn't waste a bunch of power, so if you're using batteries, this display keeps them from getting drained too quickly. Also the display does still lend to a true "what you see is what you get" printing environment, so that's a plus. All in all, a very well rounded unit that gives you the features of both the PT-P700 as well as the on-device features of the PT-D2xx/4xx models, plus some, with the ability to print up to 24mm.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it we struggled to find a hand held label maker that will do 24mm / 1" label tape that doesn't cost several hundred dollars There are a number that will do 3/4" label tape but not many that will accomodate the wider tape - was excited to find this label maker. Our label makers get used in a production/manufacuring environment and having something that will accomodate narrow as well as wider tapes is essential. We use a variitey of P-touch labelers in our operation all are durible and easy to use and are the label maker of choice in our team.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Hate it -- many steps backward I have a number of older Brother labelers and love them - PT1800 and PT1900 series mostly. This new machine is a major step backwards. It won't take any of my older TZ tapes, simple things are either much harder to do or are impossible to figure out, everything takes more key presses. The color "graphical" screen isn't anything more than eye candy - I can't see any real benefit. Please bring back the PT1900 for those of us that just need to get work done!

I've got lots of old labels when my older machine gave up the fight. I thought I could use them with this machine but no, I have to use the "e" version. That's my only complaint. That and the fact that the Brother Mall is out of stock on the carrying case for this machine. that should do it

The extraordinary VARIETY of tape widths, colors and types has resulted in my using the PT-D600 for just about ALL of my label needs. I do have several other label makers, but I can use the PT-D600 with my computer and that is FAST!!! I would gladly recommend this product to each of my friends. It is almost certain that they, too, would find it to be an absolutely outstanding label maker. Therefore, I am very pleased to give this product FIVE STARS.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Product not up to expectations My chief complaint at this time is the 2D Data Matrix Barcode does not decode the serial number correctly. The (seial number identifier does not decode correctly. This can only be verified with a validation tool. During my testing of the barcode <1P> (part number) and <17V> (CAGE) decode correctly. This is a show stopper for me. My second complaint is that it only has a .13" wide non-laminated tape...??? I need .5" non-laminated tape. I was expecting to use the the PT-D600 to print labels from a database and discovered that I would waste .5" laminated labels on address labels. Yet another show stopper. My third complaint is the wastefulness of the labels when not connected to the PC. Feeding extra tape with nothing being printed is unacceptable. Not to mention the leader being an inch longer than necessary. Using the PC connection kind of helps in this regard. I agree with other posts noting that the usability of the labler and pc software is cumbersome and not as user friendly.

I still use the P-Touch Home and Hobby regularly and keep the PT-D600 attached to my PC where I use the Editing application to create my label

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Disappointing I bought this labeler because of it's Mac interface and the reliability of previous Brother products. I immediately downloaded the drivers and set up the application on my MacBook Air (10.10.5. The software appeared to work well, but all of my other apps (Pages, TextEdit, etc.) no longer printed. I deleted the PT-D600 from system preferences and all was well. I guess I will have to install the PT-D600 every time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Decent but could be better easily The connectivity to a PC for the Editor application and how quietly it prints are the main reason for purchasing this label printer. I use it for labeling my part drawers for my LEGO. I wish the resolution was a bit better but it is still pretty good. The major complaint I have with printer is what plenty of others complain about which is the amount of waste thing produces when making labels. It depends on the size label you are printing but the waste is equal to small label print for each label. People have figured out ways to cut down on the waste using settings and playing around as well as making a single label in the Editor application and then cutting each label with scissors. Nice to see some workarounds discovered but this should not be necessary. It is either sloppy design or a way to get consumers to buy more tape cartridges. I have been a desktop technician for almost 2 decades so I am used to this type of practice at this point. Updating the firmware on the unit could be a little smoother. Also, I am not a fan of the stability and length of movement the buttons perform for input for normal home use. On the counter side, I do want to say some nice things about the unit. It has printed 50 labels without screwing up once and the print is dark and nice. I know that a good deal of that is to do with the cartridge but the printer has not failed in its part of the printing process at all. The display is nice and clear with easy to read menu items. The response time for the buttons is good. The printer is not too heavy either but I do not travel with it so it might be for that purpose as far as I know. The auto cutting feature is nice so you do not have to babysit the printer and the cuts are uniform which helps to prevent jams as well. If the waste issue could be resolved I would be pleased with this printer but until then it only receives 3 out of 5 stars.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wow--really neat! As an organizational maniac, I've labeled EVERYTHING my entire life. Purchases have place, date and price, along with receipt attached to manuals. Personal information such as finances, correspondence, work files, are all carefully labeled. While others may make fun of my OCD, I can put my fingers in just about any information I need to pull up almost instantly. Unfortunately, arthritis has taken its toll and my penmanship is not what it used to be. This is so perfect for my needs! Having an eye for graphics, the software program lets me design my labels exactly as I want them to look. Because if this I've never actually used the templates provided. I did try making labels from the printer itself but was frustrated during the process, so I always use the program and design on my PC. and when you get a label exactly the way you want, simply save it and open it up the next time you need it.

Like other Brother printers I have used, it has the annoying habit of wasting a small piece of tape before it prints each label, but I have learned to live with that.

It's somewhat confusing and overwhelming for the first few days because the keys can do so much. I've found the software you install on your computer to be much more friendly and user friendly to operate the labeller. Plus the device really doesn't cost that much once you realize how much it can do. However, just like printer ink, the cost of the label cartridges add up, especially if you buy different types of tape. Buying five or so cartridges will equal the cost of the machine.

Just to change a simple font style on the machine or connected to a pc is an exercise in frustration even though I am a tech consultant.I still cannot access other features that it advertises.

I REALLY dislike that it wastes expensive tape by spitting-out an inch of unprinted tape between each printed label. Wasteful and expensive.

The replacement unit has been working fine for three months * The hardware is dated. The resolution could and should be higher. * I _hate_ wasting ~3/4" of tape when starting printing, especially since I often print short labels. * The software is dated and disappointing. The UI resembles Windows XP-era design from 15 years ago. It also has obvious bugs.

They have a good customer service. I was missing the cable flags. They showed me that was still there, but moved to the labels. They are friendly and get your answers qickly and thoroughly and that was very helpful!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great, great value This printer works perfectly. The only issue I had was that it didn't auto-register with Brother's label program. I contacted customer service, and found that the interface is different, so I had to download the driver manually for this one (the previous one auto-downloaded and connected without me having to do anything). Once I installed the driver, everything worked great. I'm very impressed with the quality, the auto-cut, ... Highly recommend! My only suggestion would be to have all the label printers have a consistent driver interface

It's versatile and can print multiple sized labels, which my other Brother PT-2700 cannot do. It is limited to 1/2" labels. Now I have the pleasure of two worlds. Thanks Brother.

My only criticism is that when you print a label it wastes space at the beginning and end. I wish it started and ended printing closer to the margin. It makes a lot of waste.
