Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great monitor, some flawed design decisions I have had this monitor for a few months now, and would rate it a 5 star, were it not for a few baffling design/techincal decisions, and its hideausly high price tag. 1. USB Hub/KVM is not shared across HDMI or DP ports - absolutely Baffling!!! Monitor requires an urgent software update to support this. 2. The joystick control is great, however it is on the back left hand side, which makes accessing it a pain, especially if you are short limbed, or in my case have speakers at the side of the monitor - would be much better placed botom centre, or very slightly offset from the the bottom middle. 3. There is only one USB-C port - I have to use an external USB VKM to connect my laptops - Add more USB-C slots 4. When USB-C input is selected (changed) on the (external) KVM, it drops connection to all connected USB devices, which means that when I go to log on to another device, windows Hello on the montor connected USB-C webcam does not connect properly to the external device.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Screen regularly blanks for 2-10 second LG isn't addressing this issue, which countless people have reported on at various locations around the net. For me, this monitor is new, using only LG-provided cabling. Within one day I began to see the blanking that everyone is talking about. I called customer service and they were not helpful at all. It's been a month and this monitor still blanks several times within an 8-hour period, or 6 times an hour.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great text clarity but usb-c power issues Purchased July 12, 2022. Ussed with PC and Mac M1. On both when connected by usb-c, the display would go blank for 5s about every hour of use. Sent in for repair and received two weeks later working without issue. So, I was dissappointed that the monitor initially failed and that I was without a monitor for two weeks but now seems to be working well. Text clarity is the best I have seen in a monitor of this size!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Black Outs I bought this monitor for my business as this eliminates having 3 different screens and suits us best, however, one of the main issues we have is that the screen constantly black outs for about 5 secs every several minutes. It is the MOST annoying thing ever. We have checked the power cords, the wall sockets as well as the connection wire from the monitor to the tower and we can not seem to figure out the problem. We have dished out lots of money and buying new cords and still to no avail has it stopped the black outs!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful Wide Screen Monitor I did a lot of research before buying this monitor. I've been very happy with this monitor over the last year or so I've used it. It works great with my MacBook Pro and my other HP laptop. There are some issues with my MacBook Pro and displaying on the highest resolution/screen-size on the monitor but I do not mind, and this has to do with my computers graphics card from my understanding and not the monitor itself. This monitor makes multi-tasking very easy and is great for balancing creative work and work with data at the same time in other parts of the screen. In the future when I buy a new Apple computer or other computer I will make sure it's graphics card can outputting the highest resolution a monitor like this offers since I very much know I will want to buy larger monitors like this again in the future. Highly recommend the LG brand, I've had nothing but good experiences with their products so far.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I am returning it I received this a few weeks ago. I like the concept of a 49in ultrawide monitor with a split screen and the ability to attach mutiple devices to same monitor. I have requested to return the monitor got the following reasons. (1) the screen is not curved enough; this makes hard to see the material at the end of the monitor because it is so far away. (2) I was not able to connect my MacBook pro, although this laptop connect fine to other monitors. (3) the instructions were not clear . (4) the software was hard to find. (5) Technical service people did not call me back, and there not available upon repeated calls.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An amazing experience It is a breadth taking product and experience. However, it has some problems when it comes to day to day use. You lose too much vertical space compared to a regular 43" 4k monitor, the ppi is too low, that makes the text a little blurry. It's not cool when you watch Netflix or other videos, you either get two black bars or zoom in to cut the head.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great start, software left me wanting Let me first off say I love the monitor. I wish it did a couple things. One, I wish I could split it into multiple virtual monitors. The software to section it is...fine. I want to run a video or game full screen on one section of the monitor while using the rest for other things. Secondly the dual monitor setup does not work as advertised. The keyboard and mouse still have to be manually switched between computers unless both are being used in picture in picture mode. Also when using the mouse with dual controller software it moves the mice on both computers. Not a terrible experience but very unpolished. Knowing what I know now I probably would have gone with dual monitors.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Screen Keeps Going Black Using with a 2019 Macbook Pro with the provided USB-C cable and it intermittently goes black for 5-7 seconds a couple times an hour while I'm using it. It's incredible frustrating and ruins the experience of using this monitor. If you're a mac user, I'd look elsewhere.

Side by side there is no way to reach the controls for the first monitor, and with the 2nd monitor against the wall.. agian.. I cant reach it. There needs to be an app mechanism to change key features like turning on/off pbp, etc. I will wait for response to see if any alternatives coming or present before returning them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ulta-wide dual QHD for home office Recommended by Ali Abdaal. I set it up to have a single cable to MacBook Pro with USB-C thunderbolt. What others did not mention as a huge strength is that this cable also charges the MacBook -- so no additional cables needed. The screen has built-in sound which is sufficient for background sound, podcasts etc. The monitor also has charging USB ports. I had purchased a hub to connect this to MacBook but do not need it. I also use ThinkPad for work with Windows and have effectively wired the home set-up to have both ThinkPad and MacBook connected so I can switch from one to the other with a click. This saves a lot of time and saves having to have two home 'hot-desks' which is what I was previously doing. The monitors quality is excellent and is as good as 2 27inch montors side by side. I arrange it into thirds which works better for me, and could easily setup as quarters without text becoming too small. For example, Outlook on the left, Endnote on the right, Adobe Pro in the middle with Word document...helps me draft manuscripts efficiently. I am now buying a second for my work office!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from null This is a great monitor. Wonderful to be able to see multiple open programs on one screen. Color is true and the controls are well thought out except for volume control which I feel needs to be more easily accessible in this day of virtual meetings . Like a slider button in the front under the bezel.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great resolution I've had the monitor for several months and really like the widescreen experience. Text is crisp, images and videos are awesome, and it's just soooo cool. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is due to LG not being able to help me divide up the screen to mimic a 3-monitor setup like I used to have. LG has sent me links on how to do this, but nothing works and trying to get a real live person on the phone is futile. Otherwise, it's great!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great monitor, terrible service I really, really want to stress that this monitor is fantastic in *just about* every way. I use it 8 hours a day, five days a week for work, and it has changed my workflow, definitely for the better. It sounds odd, but not thinking about which "screen" a certain piece of information might be on sped me up, having come from using two 27-inch monitors. What really let me down was LGs commitment to customer service. I order it in April of 2019, immediately after it came out, and it worked flawlessly for about 9 months. However, it then started experiencing intermittent power failure, where my monitor would sporadically turn on and off - and sometimes refuse to turn on altogether. That was a huge issue, as it's my only monitor for work. LG Support was reasonable enough to hook me up with an authorized LG repair shop, as they had no factory repair centers near me. They concluded that there was an issue with the power supply, and opted to replace the board for me - under warranty - for no cost. That's the end of it, right? Everything was working correctly until I noticed a couple of days ago that my monitor is having trouble recognizing/waking up when prompted with an active display port (DP) signal. I used the LG provided 5K DP cable, and another high-quality cable, but neither can reliably wake the display to the correct input, requiring me to manually select the DP version. Suffice it to say, it's been a somewhat frustrating ownership experience. It's really, really tough for me to recommend this product based on my personal experience. I want to love this monitor - but I can't do much more than like it if LG isn't going to stand behind their products.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best monitor for non-gamers. People buy a lot of dongles and adapters for the mac, but with a single USB C connection allows it to not only charge my mac, but also use the various USB ports built-in on the display. It is a display, but also a charger and adapter. My old MacBook Air ran two displays, and this caused one of the monitors to black out intermittently. I know some people face this problem, but this is not because of the monitor, but because the MBA doesn't support displaying two monitors. You can check by searching for the product specifications of your mac. I quickly switched to MacBook pro to correct this blackout problem. When I used a Macbook Air without USB-c, I used a mini display port to HDMI adapter cable. Everything displayed in a 3840X1080 instead of the 5120x something resolution. It looks equally big enough. The monitor isn't as comfortable pixel by pixel as a native mac display, but the trade off is worth it. Compared to getting two 23 inch display, one 49 inch display is much better. Without the gap in the middle, an ultra wide monitor can be used as actually three monitors. Allowing one to use the left, middle, and right portion of the monitor. In a twin monitor display, one can only use the left or right monitor in general. No one uses the two monitor's middle, where there is a gap. Half the image on one screen and the other on the other one. My only complaint right now is that you can't change the volume directly from the Mac's keyboard. I hope there is a software update for this!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So nice! So yeah it's wide, you get that in the specs, it's the same scale as 2 quad HD 27 inch monitors. One small thing though that's just not obvious from the reviews though is that you can actually drive this monitor via USB-C if your system supports it. I plugged in into the Type C port on my 2080ti, and what do you know, Windows just connects and works without any issues. In addition the USB ports on the display still work as well. Makes for one less wire dragging across your desk, which is always a small welcome addition.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Design! I bought this about a month ago. It is much more than what I expected! I love the design as it has a very sturdy stand to hold it. It was very easy to connect and it has an excellent picture. I thought about purchasing another 25-27" monitor to go with the other one I already owned, but then I saw this one. I needed something to be able to work from home and I needed a larger sized monitor. I saw this one and it had speakers. This was the only one out there that had speakers with it that I located and I did research for about 3 weeks. The speakers have good sound. This was definitely worth the investment and is functioning better than I expected!! If you are looking for a ultra wide monitor, use some of that stimulus money and purchase this. I highly recommend this monitor!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Level up your Work from Home game Overall, this monitor is 5/5 for anyone working from home remotely during the pandemic. It’s effortless to run Zoom/Teams alongside two other apps in parallel. My sweet spot is running 3 equally sized windows (left/center/right). I’ll keep what I’m working on in the center, Zoom on the right hand side if I’m not presenting, and email/Slack on the left. The hardware is beautiful and well designed. I really like the single USB 3.0 cable running both power and display to my laptop, keeps things clean. One minor nit is I’d like to see one more USB 3.0 port - my webcam is USB 3.0 and had to get an adapter. Not a big deal. The software called OnScreen Control is good, but not great. A few things I want LG to improve: better native integration with the Windows, for example WinKey + Left/Right arrow to snap windows to zones. I also want the app to be in the Windows App Store to make it easier to find it, install, it, and update it. LG support also ignores requests for help on this app or feature requests. LG needs to learn from Apple to how to run customer support. Overall, I’d recommend this monitor to anyone who is working from home on video all day. It’s been a huge productivity boost for me, and my posture is way better. I wish I had bought it sooner in the pandemic. I normally do not post product reviews, but, my decision was highly influenced by other reviews, so wanted to give back.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lots of screen real estate I bought this to supplement my Mac laptop display as I anticipate giving up my 27” iMac. I like all of the screen real estate. It’s working well for me. It’s not as crisp as my iMac‘s display, but I guess that’s to be expected. I had to disable the brightness auto-adjust — it kept going up and down for seemingly no reason. I would prefer more USB-C ports — it only comes with one. But they did include a USB 2 to C adapter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from LG 49WL95C-W At a very simple level, the product meets and sometimes exceeds expectations. It's a beautiful monitor and has totally changed the way I work and play. I'm a little disappointed with the software. Especally Dual Controller. I was hopeful the softeware would have the capability of managing two computers seemlessly. There seems to be conditions that prevent a user from using that software when using a personal computer with a computer that's tunneled into a company's vpn. That work computer is on your network but not really. At least that has been my experience. I'm hopeful to see updates to LGs software that makes it more robust in the very near future.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Terrible Quality and Even WORSE Customer Service After two months of using this monitor, the right side of the screen went dim. After calling LG customer service and having a local service company look into the monitor, it was declared a "bad screen". It has been three months now and I still have not received a replacement or a fixed monitor. Three times now LG representatives/managers told me they would call back with a follow up and never called me back. Numerous mistakes and errors were made on their part and now the latest instructions from LG's customer service manager is that I need to start over and have another service company look at my monitor because the process the done incorrectly the first time (LG's error and monitor has already been proven defective). I own a small business and have lost time and productivity dealing with this monitor and LG's customer service.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lacking Industry Accessories Amazing monitor. I use this on a daily basis and have no complaints at all. The issue I have with owning a 49" monitor is that compatible products are not yet in this industry. Finding a 49" desktop arm mount is impossible. The stock stand is sleek but the computer can be found "shaking" if you bump your desk or move it even slightly. The stability is the only thing lacking for this setup. Additional options to mount this massive beauty should be available or at least linked out to a company that does offer a compatible and sleek mount.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really good monitor I use it for day trading Bought 2 monitors for day trading. Best investment ever. The screen is so crisp..amazing screen resolution. Make sure you use the display port not the HDMI...to get the full 5K you also need to buy a really good nvedia graphics card that has 2 display ports and supports 5K resolution. When you buy the monitor the manual shows which graphic card it supports or you can download it online beforehand. I did not use a stand for this I just placed the monitor on top of a desktop computer and an old subwoofer... I put a notebook underneath the desktop computer to balance the height with the sub woofer... It was really hard to find a stand the support the weight of a wide screen monitor

The picture is incredible, sound very good as well. It is definitely a very imposing piece of hardware. Quite heavy too, make sure the desk is sturdy enough. I suspect it's more of a firmware issue or hardware limitation. My only complaint about this monitor and some others LG produce is the white back of the monitor I prefer a darker color. But even if you don't mind the white its odd they went with some kinda gold/brown color on the actual stand. Also it would have been nicer if the audio out jack wasn't on the side or there was one on the side and one on the back as I use this for my speakers and hate having a cable on the side of my monitor.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it! I bought two of these for my home office. Although I don't have video cards to run 5k yet, I am still able to be a lot more productive. I have 8 workspaces with enough space for me to not have to context switch.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Monitor but has Issues I bought this monitor for the sole purpose of running two machines side by side. One being a Macbook pro late 2017 with Touchbar Max out options. The other is a 2018 Surface Laptop. I have major issues that the monitor cannot remember what my previous setting were so when I dock one machine or another it doesn't automatically put them side by side. I have to go into the menu and set them up. Then I have to go into each computer via the laptop to enable Dual Controller(app the monitor needs so you can use one keyboard and mouse on both machines). Dual Controller is broken but needed to run two machines with one mouse and keyboard. The app does not remember to activate it when the laptop is docked. You have to enable it on the laptop before you dock it for it to work. Its very annoying and renders the main feature for me useless. The monitor would be great if they could get everything you need to make it do what was advertised possible. And the monitor works fine with one machine. I would not recommend the product at this time. If someone reaches out and helps clarify and remedy the issue, I will change my rating, but for now its a no-go if you are planning to use two machines side by side.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I can't setup my 5120x1440p resolution on mac mini I can't setup my 5120x1440p resolution on mac mini 2018 ( The higher i can get is 3840x1080 and it's terrible! However, i've installed Windows 10 using boot camp on same mac mini and Windows gives me 5120x1440p from the start!! How it's possible and how to setup 5120x1440p on MAC OS - this is very critical for me!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice monitor but poor resolution with MacMini 2018 I bought this to use with a Mac Mini and the resolution is pretty poor. I had a LG4K monitor before, which is very crisp, but text (word processing software) on this monitor when plugged into MacMini is not at all crisp and the resolution via HDMI or Thunderbolt connection is very sad. This may be a Mac-specific issue, but after spending an entire day trying to troubleshoot, I would not recommend it for use with either MacMini or Macbook.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pick somewhere with a good return policy I’ve been a user of the 34uc99-w for a while now and was very excited to get this to replace it. For those wondering how some reviewers have received the monitor, if you preorder early enough you will get it before online stores switch to showing general availability. The monitor is huge, but not in a good way. The curvature is shallow such that you have to physically move your chair to comfortably see either side of the screen. Understandably, a more aggressive curve would distort the image, so perhaps 49” is just too wide. As another review mentioned, touching the monitor at all will shake it. It’s not a huge deal but perhaps a different stand design would help. I returned it, unfortunately having to eat a $250 restocking fee. Will be looking at the 38” ultra wide instead.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Screen quality is ok, can't control sound volume I received this today via Amazon. The display is ok. When running at the full 5k text is reasonably sharp but nowhere near as good as the LG Ultrafine 5k. You cannot control the sound volume from the macbook. You have to use a joystick located behind the monitor and go several menus deep to adjust the volume. Not great for a $1500 monitor. Almost certainly going to return this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Quality If you folks over at LG are feeling generous in anyway, I would be happy to accept a free LG 49 Ultrawide monitor as I would never be able to afford to have one otherwise... so, if you want to help a family in a state of poverty experience a truly excellent monitor, you may contact us at the provided email. Thank you..... Mike G.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for editing cinema footage but... Pre-ordered these a month ago and they showed up yesterday... In our office, we were using dual 34" curved LG monitors on each workstation, but have been waiting years for a more streamlined solution for our editors which work strictly with high resolution RED cinema footage. These new 49" 32:9 monitors are truly perfect for our needs; however, one update that should be made is the hinge-point on the back of the monitor. Any slight vibration on the desk will micro-shake the monitor because the single hinge is holding up a pretty wide and heavy screen. If there's ever a beefier "hinge/stand" update from LG for this model that minimizes "shake" I would gland purchase them. Overall, for the low price, these monitors are the best bang for the buck right now if your a creative professional.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Screen goes blank 1-2 times an hour on MacBook Pro I've had the 49WL95C-W for about 2 weeks now. Like the monitors size and general pixel quality, but there is a HUGE problem that many Mac users are reporting: The 49WL95C-W screen it goes blank (black) 1-2 times an hour for about 4-5 seconds at a time and seems to be completely random. The monitor comes back on its own, and does not seem related to sleep mode (e.g. I could be moving mouse or typing during an episode of screen going blank, and moving mouse doesn't make screen come back to life any sooner). I am running a 2016 MacBook Pro Retina on 10.14.4. I have the upgraded Radeon Pro 460 with 4GB video card. I run with the monitor on and my laptop lid open (screen on). When it goes blank, No messages show on the screen and the connected laptop screen doesn't change like when you unplug the USB-C cord. That tells me it is not loosing connection to the Macbook, rather issue is isolated to the 49WL95C-W monitor itself. I've reset the PRAM, SMC, checked cables, checked static grounding, installed OSC, checking bluetooth interference from wireless mouse/keyboard, played with the Energy Saving controls both on MacOS (e,g. turning off automatic graphic switching) and on the display itself. Nothing seems to fix it. I've also checked temperature on my GPU and CPU and nothing seems to be too hot (no correlation to temperature and the screen going blank). Hoping this can be fixed with a firmware fix, or I will have to return to Amazon before the 30 day free return period expires on May 1, 2019. A second issue I see is that the monitor is being run at 5120x1440 (low resolution). I am not sure if that means I am not getting 4K. Setting the refresh rate to 30hz doesn't make a difference either. I wonder if other Mac Users with slightly newer MacBook Pros are able to get this to run at "high resolution" anyway?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Monitor arrived defected! I bought the new and amazing LG 49 Ultrawide monitor via Costco. I paid express shipping due to work commitments. To my surprise and frustration the monitor came with a defect! There are a number of thin bubbles in the LED screen. Now I have been sitting waiting for an exchange and hoping that this one would have passed quality control and without defect. My biggest problem is that I would have wasted 6-7 precious days despite buying this EXPRESS and paying FULL price!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Mated to MacBook Pro 2018...BUT... This wide monitor works fantastically mated to a MacBook Pro 2018 model. No problems....BUT, if you have an external harddrive too close to the monitor, another computer, router, any device that gives off an electro-magnetic energy, this could cause your monitor to flicker periodically. Its because some devices are not sheilded as well as they should be. EASY SOLUTION: Keep other electronics, including the mated laptop far enough away from the monitor so that you get flicker-free awesome performance.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I've increased my productivity by 20% I purchased this monitor less than a week ago. The monitor is so large it feels like it should have it's own zip-code. This was an upgrade from the 39" model. I could not be more pleased with the productivity increase I've expereienced. I no longer need to fish through layers of open (but hidden windows when working on large product design projects. As other reviews have noted there have been some technical issues but I'm confident LG will issue a patch soon. Most notable: 1. I had to upgrade my studio monitor cable to balanced cables to get rid of a hum that was not present with my previous monitor. 2. About once an hour the screen goes black for about 2 seconds and then flashes back on.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does not work with Macs! This monitor does not work at 5120x1440 with Macs. My new Mac Mini and MacBook Air which both days they will support 5120x2880 do not work. Apple Support can’t figure it out and neither can the people at the Genius Bar. Clearly this was not tested before release.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Monitors for PC Only, NO Apple or MacBooks I own about 5 LG monitors and they all are working Great. I do not own this one (49WL95C-W) But I am a photographer using a PC with no software issues. Other photographers that I know that are Mac users will only use Apples products. Apple has it that way so you will only use they monitors, (Bad Drivers for PC's) Sorry. I've got two ipad Pro's 12.9" and a 9" ipad and they work great, but trying to change over to Apple and a Mac computer was a NIGHTMARE. So I will be sticking with my PC for now and will be looking forward to picking up this monitor (LG 49WL95C-W) in the future when the Price goes down.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the size and the sleekness I bought this monitor 6 months ago and have been using it for work-from-home functions. I love how sleek it is and the size is perfect. My only difficulty is how I can split the monitor up into 3 components and this has been difficult to figure out.
